Dara Valley Walking (half day)

The Dara Valley Walking Tour includes 1 hour of easy walking in the Nuratau Mountain range.(Embark on a self-guided walking tour to explore the sights.) The are many unique natural rock formations to see on the walk, as well as some local village culture (agriculture, shepherding, traditional houses and daily life).

On the drive to the mountain you will stop to visit the traditional "karez" underground irrigation system.

Departure time is generally 9am and the return is about 1pm the same day.

Costs for the tour:

• Single person - $35

• Two people - $45 ($22,5 per person)

• Three people - $60

• For four or more people, the price is upon request.

The price includes transportation with a driver. Water + food can be bought at a local market while leaving Nurata.

Petroglyphs at Sarmysh-say Gorge (half day)

The trip to the petroglyphs is an 80km drive and a one hour roundtrip walk into the Sarmysh-say Gorge to view over 40000 ancient petroglyphs drawn by nomadic pagan peoples that date from the Stone Age to the early Iron Age.

The trip can be made before or after lunch. It is an easy hike that is suitable for all ages.

Costs for the tour:

• Three people - $105 ($35 per person)

The petroglyph tour includes transportation and guiding services.

Village-to-village Nuratau Mountain Hiking (Multi-day)

Below you can see two short travel videos along these hiking routes, that were made possible by Ruslan's guiding. These videos show the villages of Hayot, Uhum, and Asraf.

The hiking tour is available as a 2, 3, or 4 day trip (with 1, 2, or 3 nights spent in the mountains). Every night you will sleep in a homestay where breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided. All you need to bring is appropriate clothing and footwear for mountain trekking.

The trek will go through the Nuratau mountain range, going from small mountain village to small mountain village, including visits to abandoned villages of stone houses. Depending on how many days you choose, you will visit the villages of Sentob, Uhum, Asraf and Hayot. We will drive between the villages, allowing you to walk around each town to see the local culture and interact with the local people, as well as do hikes nearby.

• 2 Day, 1 night trip

  • Single person - $100

  • Two people - $170 ($85 per person)

  • Three people - $225 ($75 per person)

  • For four or more people, the price is upon request.

• 3 Day, 2 night trip

  • Single person - $140

  • Two people - $260 ($130 per person)

  • Three people - $360 ($120 per person)

  • For four or more people, the price is upon request.

Prices include transportation, a guide "native-speaking guide.", all meals and homestays during the trek. (Trips start and finish in Nurata. It is possible to start and/or finish the tour in Bukhara or Samarkand at additional cost. Contact us for details. )

From Samarkand: If you would like to take a scenic drive through the mountains to see the Dara Valley with stops for short walks, photography and sightseeing, we can arrange this at an additional cost (+$15 for a total cost of $45 per car from Samarkand).
